This was an opportunity to return to my roots and work on some Arch Viz again in conjunction with a friend of mine at Maris Interiors. The brief was to create a statement in the office space, something that was completely improbable or unlikely which was a play on the company's name. So my friend had the bold idea of placing a locomotive in the space as he had seen some previous work of mine and wanted to capture a similar feeling. For me I was interested in trying to move away from some of the more sterile arch viz images I had worked on in the past, those where there is a million spot lights that seem to flatten out the space and remove the drama and contrast, so here I have tried to play up the natural lighting with a more cinematic colour grading. I have used red lamps to provide an accent colour and be in contrast to the cooler areas of the office. In all I think this was a bold decision by Maris interiors who wanted to place a locomotive in the space, they didn't want the Disney crashed loco, more of a sculptural piece, that was sitting slightly uneasy in the space, rather than appearing like a museum display.
